Gut Health for Busy Moms: The Importance of Taking Care of Your Digestive System

Your gut health is your super power 🦹‍♀️

Did you know that?

I know it can be difficult to prioritize your own health and well-being. With so many responsibilities and tasks to take care of, taking time for yourself can often feel like a luxury. However, taking care of your gut health is essential for your overall health and well-being, and it doesn’t have to take up too much time or effort.

Taking care of your gut health is key to being healthy and productive as a busy mom, busy professional or entrepreneur

Gut health is the foundation to a healthy lifestyle. It affects every aspect of your life, from your energy levels and mood to how well you sleep and how quickly you can recover from illness or injury.

Gut health is something we all need to take seriously because it’s essential for our overall wellbeing–but especially as busy moms, business women and entrepreneurs who have lots going on in their lives. As someone who deals with both the stressors of being an entrepreneur and raising two kids under the age of four, I know firsthand how important good gut health is!

Because a healthy and happy gut equals

💡 more energy

👉🏼 less mood swings

😴 better sleep

🤩 better concentration and focus

💩 better bowel movements

🚥 better hormones

And so much more!

So, how can we prioritize our gut health? As I have reprioritized over the years, the needle moving tasks for me will always be:

Getting enough sleep: Sleep plays a crucial role in supporting your gut health. Aim to get at least 7-9 hours of sleep each night to help keep your gut microbiome balanced and healthy.

Prioritizing meals and nourishment: A diet that is rich in abundance of foods and plenty of color that supports your blood sugar balance can help support the health of your gut microbiome. Aim to include a variety of different foods in your diet to provide your gut with a diverse range of nutrients and beneficial bacteria.

Stay hydrated with minerals: Drinking enough water is one thing, but prioritizing minerals is another. You can drink water all day long, but you still need minerals (which are often removed from our water). If you head over to my Instagram I have an entire highlight devoted to minerals.

Being careful about what goes on my schedule: As a busy mom and entrepreneur, it’s important to ensure your schedule allows you to do both jobs to YOUR satisfaction. You don’t want to stretch yourself too thin by letting meetings bleed into your evenings or family time. You can always make more money – you can’t make more time.

Getting sunshine first thing in the morning: Aim to spend 15-20 minutes in the morning in the sunlight to help improve your circadian rhythm. This will improve your sleep and indirectly your mood, your microbiome and hormones!

Not being afraid to say no: As a recovering people pleaser and perfectionist, it’s hard to say no, but when your plate is already full, sometimes the “best yes” you can say is actually no

Checking on my gut health and hormones via testing 1-2 times a year: This helps you understand what’s going on with your body and allows you take the appropriate action steps that will get you results

Reduce stress: Stress can have a negative impact on your gut health and disrupt the balance of bacteria in your gut microbiome. Take time for yourself to practice self-care and reduce stress in your life. This could include activities such as simply taking a bath after a long day, going on a walk without your airpods or phone or listening to a short superhuman meditation (my latest obsession)!

Incorporating these simple tips into your daily routine can help support the health of your gut and improve your overall well-being. Remember, taking care of your gut health doesn’t have to take up too much time or effort. By making small changes to your diet and lifestyle, you can make a big impact on your gut health. When you prioritize your own health, your business, your life and your opportunities excel.

So many of the women we work with are busy moms and successful business women. They know that by investing in their gut health, they are not only improving their lives, but creating a ripple effect into their families and even organizations
